Alien Landscapes takes us on a journey through caves filled with beautiful rock formations. It is a visual journey through light and darkness, a journey of the soul and one with a story to be told - of exploration, wonder, fear and discovery, being lost and then finding the way out.
Jenolan Caves is one of my favourite Photography spots in the Blue Mountains. It is an area that is rich in diversity. It is a place to relax, to dine, to explore. A place that I have been coming to since I was a little kid with my parents, as an adult with my husband, as a mother with our son.
Jenolan Caves is an area rich in history and full of stories and rumours. On many occasions as I have wandered the halls of Caves House, the caves, and the river walk, I have experienced a sense of eeriness, a feeling that sends a shiver down the spine and makes you want to turn around and make sure no - one is behind you. On most occasions I have experienced nothing but happiness to be there.
I have heard no voices, nor seen any ghostly apparitions as some people have. Yet there are many tales to be told about what has been seen and heard in the caves.
On one particular trip years ago I decided to take a series of Photographs depicting the eeriness of the caves and the beauty of the rocks themselves. This portfolio shows some of the images that I took.
Please note that this story is purely fiction, in some of my images the colours are not representational of real life and the images themselves have been altered slightly to suit the story.
